Glendon
Make a pit stop and strike a pose beneath the towering 25-foot pyrogy, an iconic landmark that adds a touch of whimsy to Glendon. And if you happen to visit in August, brace yourself for the adrenaline-pumping excitement of the Demolition Derby, a beloved annual event that draws crowds from near and far.
Glendon, nestled in northern Alberta just north of St. Paul, holds a special place in the hearts of its residents and visitors alike. The village takes its name from the maiden name of an early postmaster's mother, a testament to its close-knit community and rich history. In 1993, Glendon proudly unveiled its roadside tribute to the beloved perogy. Standing tall at 7.6 meters, the 'Giant Perogy' with its accompanying fork has become a cherished symbol of the town's spirit and pride. It's no wonder it's counted among the Giants of the Prairies, capturing the imagination of all who pass through.
