Museum of Aboriginal Peoples' Art & Artifacts

Portage College's Museum of Aboriginal Peoples' Art & Artifacts is renowned worldwide for housing the exclusive and permanent collection of artworks by the Professional Native Indian Artists Incorporated, popularly known as the Indian Group of Seven. Within the museum, a remarkable assortment of both historical and contemporary pieces are proudly showcased, including previously unseen works by internationally acclaimed artists such as Alex Janvier, Joseph Sanchez, Jane Ash Poitras, and Jason Carter, among many others. These exhibits aim to illuminate the cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and history of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, inviting visitors to delve into the narratives surrounding traditional art forms like hide tanning, beading, and quilling.
